Ghost in the Shell in new Mondo Steelbook packaging, plus American Pastoral, Red Dawn: CE & more

Here at the site today, Tim has turned in a new Blu-ray review, this time featuring Criterion’s recent release of Carnival of Souls (1962). It’s a terrific package, with an amazing transfer and fine extras too.

In announcement news today, Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced the re-release of the animated Ghost in the Shell film on Blu-ray (and Digital HD) on 3/14 in new Steelbook packaging with artwork by Mondo. Extras are the same as the previous release. You can see the artwork at left. As we’ve reported recently, Anchor Bay is also releasing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Season 1 and Season 2 (previously only available on DVD) on Blu-ray on 2/21.

Lionsgate has announced the Blu-ray release of American Pastoral on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/7, with a Digital HD release set for 1/27. The film was directed by Ewan McGregor and stars he and Jennifer Connelly. Extras will include audio commentary by McGregor and 2 featurettes (American Pastoral: Adapting an American Classic and Making the American Dream).

Lionsgate will also release Contract to Kill, starring Steven Seagal, on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/28.

Shout! Factory has officially set their Red Dawn: Collector’s Edition for Shout Select release of release on 3/14 (SRP $24.93). Extras are TBA. You can see the cover artwork and pre-order it on Amazon below.

Kino Lorber has announced that they’re working on new BD and DVD releases of Driftwood (1947) for 2017.

Sony will release Burn Country on DVD only on 2/7.

Universal has set Priceless for Blu-ray and DVD release on 2/14. They also have Loving set for release on both formats on 2/7.

PBS has Mercy Street: Season 2 set for Blu-ray and DVD release on 2/14 as well.

And the Warner Archive has set Vincente Minnelli’s Bells Are Ringing (1960) for Blu-ray release on 1/31.
