And because this is 2020, we’re not done yet with the disc errors. It’s come to our attention that Episode 17 on Disc One of Warner’s The Flintstones: The Complete Series Blu-ray box set—The Big Bank Robbery—is missing music and sound effects. We’ve brought this issue to Warner’s attention. If other problems come to light, and/or when the studio announces their disc exchange program to correct them, we’ll let you know.
Here’s hoping there are no errors on either The Lord of the Rings Trilogy or The Hobbit Trilogy in 4K. Fingers and toes crossed.
In other news today, Shout! Factory has set Masaki Watanabe’s anime Bartender for release on Blu-ray on 1/19/21.
Lionsgate has set Ava, staring Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell, for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/24.
Abkco will be releasing Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Psychomagic, A Healing Art on Blu-ray—separately from their recent Alejandro Jodorowsky Collection box set—on 11/20.
High Octane Studios is releasing Roxy Smith’s 8-episode Amazon series Dark/Web on Blu-ray on 11/10. We hear that a number Buffy vets worked on that one, so do give it a look.
And the Film Detective will release Frank Howard’s documentary The Other Side of Madness (1971) on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/10.
Finally, some of you Star Wars fans might get a kick out of this: Disney+ is streaming the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special on 11/17. Clever, but I’m not going to lie: If there aren’t cameos by LEGO Harvey Korman and LEGO Bea Arthur, I will be disappointed.
Kidding. (Sorta.)
All right, we’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few titles now available for pre-order on Amazon...
Don’t forget that Zavvi’s Shaun of the Dead 4K Steelbook becomes available for pre-order tomorrow. Here’s what it looks like (click here for Zavvi US and here for Zavvi UK links, which will go live when the disc becomes available)…
Back with that BTTF 4K review sometime hopefully over the weekend (just waiting for it to arrive to start working on it).
Have a great weekend!
