Disney’s The Lone Ranger official, plus John Carpenter/Scream Factory BD details & more!

The big release news today is that Disney has just officially set The Lone Ranger for Blu-ray Combo and Digital release on 12/17.  Extras will include a blooper reel, a deleted scene and 3 behind-the-scenes featurettes (totaling about 32 minutes – Riding the Rails of The Lone Ranger, Armies’ Western Road Trip and Becoming a Cowboy).  You’ll find the final official cover artwork below.

PBS Distribution has announced an American Experience: War of the Worlds DVD release on 11/29, honoring the 75th anniversary of the original Orson Welles / Mercury Theater radio broadcast on 10/30.  [Read on here…]

Anchor Bay and The Weinstein Company have set Unfinished Song for DVD release on 9/24, starring Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave.

Entertainment One has set the Scholastic title Geronimo Stilton: Operation ShuFongFong for DVD release on 9/24.

Lionsgate has a Lifetime Holiday 4-Film Collection coming on DVD on 10/15, including The Christmas Consultant, Holiday Spin, The March Sisters at Christmas and Holly’s Holiday.

For you vintage erotica fans, Vinegar Syndrome is releasing The First Time (1978)/Oriental Babysitter (1967) on DVD on 11/12, along with The Candidate (1965)/Johnny Gunman (1957), Game Show Models (1976)/The Seventh Dwarf (1976) and The Blue Hour (1971)/One Naked Night (1965)/Three in a Towel (1969).

And finally today, our friends at Scream Factory have revealed the final list of bonus content expected on their BD releases of John Carpenter’s Body Bags (due 11/12) and Assault on Precinct 13 on Blu-ray (due 11/19).  Body Bags will include audio commentary with director John Carpenter and actor Robert Carradine on The Gas Station, audio commentary with Carpenter and actor Stacy Keach on Hair and audio commentary with producer Sandy King on Eye, the Unzipping Body Bags featurette and the trailer.  Assault on Precinct 13 will include audio commentary with writer/director John Carpenter, a new audio commentary with art director & sound effects rditor Tommy Lee Wallace, new interviews with actress Nancy Loomis Kyes and actor Austin Stoker, a vintage interview with Carpenter and Stoker, the trailer and radio spots.
