Not to be outdone, Tim Salmons checks out Eddie Romero’s Black Mama, White Mama (1972), also on Blu-ray Disc from the good folks at Arrow Video. That film stars Pam Grier and is a classic of the 1970s “blaxploitation” genre. Don’t miss the review.
Now then... we have confirmation today that Best Buy will be carrying a trio of Universal catalog films on Blu-ray as retail exclusives, at least for a few weeks, starting on 10/4. They include Joe Johnston’s October Sky (1999), It Came from Outer Space (1953 – on Blu-ray 3D with 2D), and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966) starring Don Knotts. You can see the cover artwork below. Click on the covers to visit the Best Buy pre-order pages for each...
We expect these titles to go into wide release on Blu-ray later in 2016.
And here’s something for you Star Trek fans: The History Channel’s recent 50 Years of Star Trek documentary special is going to be released on DVD only on 11/1 (SRP $14.98). Click here to pre-order it on Amazon.com. Thanks to Bits reader Devin M. for the heads-up!
That’s all for this week. As you know, this is the long Labor Day weekend here in the States, so we’ll return with more news and reviews on Tuesday. Until then, have a great weekend!
