We’re back as promised with a bit more release news for you this evening...

You may recall that a couple of months ago, we reported that Universal Studios Home Entertainment was preparing another wave of Alfred Hitchcock 4K Ultra HD titles for release this year. Well, now it’s official: The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection: Volume 2 box set will street on 5/10, and—just as we expected—it will include Saboteur (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Marnie (1964), The Trouble with Harry (1955), and Family Plot (1976).

What’s more, in addition to the 4K box set, you’ll be able to purchase the individual 4K Ultra HD SKUs on 5/10 as well.

You can see the cover artwork for the box set at left, and you’ll find that and the individual 4K covers below, all linked to their respective pre-order pages. [Read on here...]

In other announcement news today, the MPI Media Group has set The Honeymooners Specials: The Complete Collection for DVD release on 3/22. This will include Second Honeymoon, Valentine Special, Christmas Special, and Christmas Carol.

Kino Lorber has revealed its May Blu-ray and DVD slate, which will include The Unmaking of a College (DVD) and Gagarine (Blu-ray and DVD) on 5/3, Mamba (Blu-ray), The Revolution Generation (DVD), Year of the Jellyfish (Blu-ray and DVD), and Super Wiggles (DVD) on 5/10, Outside the Law (Blu-ray and DVD) and Two Men in Town (Blu-ray and DVD) on 5/17, Viva Maestro (DVD) on 5/24, and The Sanctity of Space (DVD), A Taste of Whale (DVD), The Wobblies (DVD), and Gomorrah: Fifth and Final Season (Blu-ray and DVD) on 5/31.

One other Kino Lorber note: The company will also release The Miklós Jancsó Collection on Blu-ray on 5/10, which features The Round-Up, The Red and the White, The Confrontation, Winter Wind, Red Psalm, and Electra, My Love.

Finally today, news has broken that Amazon has finally closed its $8.5 billion deal to acquire MGM. Per Amazon today: “The storied, nearly century-old studio—with more than 4,000 film titles, 17,000 TV episodes, 180 Academy Awards, and 100 Emmy Awards—will complement Prime Video and Amazon Studios’ work in delivering a diverse offering of entertainment choices to customers.” What’s known at this moment is that Amazon is leaving the studio’s theatrical production slate alone for now, they do not plan to make all MGM content exclusive to Prime Video, and there are no changes anticipated to the Bond franchise. What we don’t yet know is what this might mean for the studio’s physical media plans going forward. Will MGM continue to support physical media? We think so. But could Amazon see more retailer-exclusive disc releases? Possible, but unknown at this time. Anyway, you can read more on this today here at Variety and Deadline.

All right, we’ll leave you with a look at the final cover artwork for all of Universal’s new Hitchcock: Volume 2 4K titles. All are now available for pre-order on by clicking on the covers...
