Afternoon, folks! We’ve got a couple things for you today here at The Bits...

First of all, our own Michael Coate has just turned in a new History, Legacy and Showmanship column featuring a look back at Franklin J. Schaffner’s classic George C. Scott war epic Patton in honor of its 50th anniversary.

Michael is joined this time by author and historian Steven Jay Rubin for a discussion on the film and its legacy. We think you’ll really enjoy it, so do give that a look. [Read on here...]

Also today, our friends at Media Play News are preparing a big feature story with the working title In Defense of the Disc. They’re looking to do short profiles on people who still prefer to enjoy their movies and other filmed content on physical discs. Specifically, they’re looking for people in these categories:

General DVD and Blu-ray Collector – Someone who has a huge collection, the bigger the better, all types of discs, DVD and Blu-ray Disc (in other words, someone who hasn’t tossed out all his DVDs!)

Blu-ray-only Collector

4K UHD Collector – Ideally someone who has every 4K movie the studios have released!

Steelbook Collector – Someone who might buy other stuff but who really focuses on Steelbooks

Criterion Collection Collector – Someone who has the complete Criterion Collection; a true connoisseur!

TV DVD – Someone with a huge collection of TV seasons and series

And then a few genre collectors... horror, vintage film noir, Westerns, music discs, etc.

We know that among our loyal Digital Bits readers are more than a few people who fall into these categories. So if you’re interested in being profiled and interviewed for the Media Play News story, contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
