First up today, people who have pre-ordered Samsung’s first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player (the UBDK8500) on Amazon and Best Buy are reporting that they’re getting notices that the player will ship on 2/12 or 2/21, as opposed to 3/1. So it’s possible that discs may ship earlier as well. We’ll let you know as we hear updates. [Read on here…]

Finally, here’s something fun: Animation historian Jerry Beck just posted on his Facebook page over the weekend that he’s been working on those new Kino Lorber Blu-ray releases of the DePatie-Freleng Enterprises animated titles The Inspector, The Ant and the Aardvark, and Crazylegs Crane. Some of you may recall, we first mentioned that they were coming way back in June. Now it looks like they’re finally getting close to finished, having been announced by Kino Lorber for release on 4/26. The Inspector (2 discs) will include 34 animated shorts, Crazylegs Crane (1 disc) will include 16 animated shorts, and The Ant and the Aardvark (also 1 disc) will include 17 animated shorts.
