Hunt launched The Bits website in 1997, in the early days of the DVD format, to bring together the Hollywood film community and movie fans from around the world. His daily column on The Bits is My Two Cents, which features 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release news, as well as insider perspective, analysis, and opinion on the film and home video industries.

Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Hunt studied film at the University of Wisconsin – Madison under the noted cinema theorist and historian David Bordwell. While at Madison, he also worked as a video producer in the university’s Instructional Media Development Center (IMDC), as well as a projectionist in the Communication Arts Department, and an archivist (helping to catalog and preserve stored film elements) for the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. He began his professional career as a video producer and director in Minneapolis, where he guided commercial and industrial projects for 3M, Texaco, the NFL and the Minnesota Twins among other clients. He’s also worked on a handful of Hollywood film and TV productions including ABC’s police anthology series FBI: The Untold Stories.

In addition to The Bits, Hunt has co-developed animated TV series pitches (with Todd Doogan and Adam Jahnke) through Starburns Industries and is currently working on a series of hard science fiction novels, the first of which is Only Those Who Risk (release TBA).

Hunt has previously edited the Blu-ray and DVD-related pages of Geek Magazine, served as the Inside DVD Contributing Editor to Widescreen Review magazine, and has contributed reviews and articles to Home Media Magazine, among other print publications.
