Good afternoon, Bits readers!

We’ve got some good release news for you today, so let’s get right into it…

The big news today is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set the Netflix original series Cobra Kai: The Complete Series on Blu-ray on 3/3!

Note that Season 6 will also be available separately on DVD that same day.

The 13-disc set will include all six seasons—65 episodes—in HD, with the same extras currently available on DVD.

However, the Blu-rays will include a pair of new audio commentaries with series creators Josh Herald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg on the pilot episode and the finale.

Cobra Kai: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

Speaking of Sony, some of you may know that the studio produces the Apple TV original series For All Mankind, and that I’m a huge fan of it. Well, Apple TV has just dropped the first teaser trailer for Season 5, which debuts on 3/27. Here’s a look…

And that’s not all: We’ve learned that Sony will finally be releasing Season 2 of the series on Blu-ray soon! (Here in the US, only Season 1 is currently available on the format, though Seasons 1-3 have been released in the UK.) Look for that to be announced in the coming weeks.

And Sony Pictures Classics will release Maria Friedman’s Merrily We Roll Along (2025) on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/3 as well.

Also today, Walt Disney Home Entertainment has just set James L. Brooks’ Ella McCay (2025) for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/3, with the Digital set for 1/27, and streaming via Hulu on 2/5. Extras will include 9 deleted scenes, bloopers, and 2 featurettes (A James L. Brooks Film and In Good Company: The Cast of Ella McCay).

Alliance Home Entertainment has just announced its February slate which includes Mill Creek Entertainment’s 10 Rillington Place (1971) on Blu-ray on 2/3 and Hanky Panky (1982) on 2/10, along with Paramount’s Friday the 13th: Part 2 (1982) in 4K Ultra HD on 2/3.

Lightyear is releasing Diane Keaton’s remastered Heaven (1987) on Blu-ray and Digital on 2/17.

Here’s something else that’s exciting for spaceflight fans: Deaf Crocodile is getting ready to release a Soviet-era deep cut: Vladimir Motyl’s White Sun of the Desert (1970) on Blu-ray on 3/24! What makes this film interesting is its unique blend of action, comedy, music, and drama, as well as the fact that—by tradition going way back to Soyuz 12 in 1973—Russian cosmonauts watch this film the night before launching into space.

Powerhouse Films in the UK has just announced new Indicator label Blu-ray and 4K titles for release in April, including Jean Rollin’s The Grapes of Death (1978) and The Living Dead Girl (1982). Both will be released on 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision HDR as well as Blu-ray, mastered from the original camera negatives. Each will also include “newly produced and archival extra features, improved English subtitles, and 80-page books with new essays, historical articles and interviews, and film credits.”

In addition, Indicator will be releasing 6 new standard edition Blu-rays of their Universal Noir #1 box set titles for release in the UK only on 4/20, including The Web (1947), Larceny (1948), Kiss the Blood Off My Hands (1948), Abandoned (1949), Deported (1950), and Naked Alibi (1954).

And for the US only, look for a new Blu-ray standard edition of Jean Rollin’s Lips of Blood (1975) on 4/21.

Finally, in other news today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has just announced this year’s Oscar nominations, and the Best Picture candidates include Bugonia, F1, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams. You can read more about these and more here. The winners will be awarded during their annual ABC broadcast on 3/15.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned…
