Blu-ray News – Green Inferno, Zoolander Walmart exclusive, Nightmares, new Twilight & the BFI finds a lost Disney animated film

Tim Salmons’ Halloween Hangover “leftovers” continues today with a review of Twilight Time’s new Scream and Scream Again on Blu-ray Disc.

In announcement news this afternoon, Universal has set The Green Inferno for Blu-ray and DVD release on 1/5/2016.

Universal will also release Jeff Dunham: Unhinged in Hollywood on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/17.  [Read on here…]

Paramount has confirmed that it’s re-releasing Zoolander on Blu-ray on 12/1 in a Walmart-exclusive Limited Edition that comes in Steelbook packaging (see above right) and includes new bonus features (a Breakdance Fight Rehearsal clip and an Alternate Brainwashing Sequence Storyboards clip) plus all the previous extras.

Scream Factory has set the horror anthology Nightmares for Blu-ray release on 12/22. It includes both widescreen and full frame versions, plus audio commentary with executive producer Andrew Mirisch and actress Cristina Raines, the theatrical trailer, and radio spots.

Twilight Time has revealed that they’re working on Born Free (1966), The Detective (1968), Mysterious Island (1961 – Encore Edition), Kings Go Forth (1958), Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984), and Harlock: Space Pirate 3D/2D (2013) for Blu-ray release on 12/8. They go up for pre-order on Twilight’s website on 11/20 (at 4 PM Pacific). And you can see the cover artwork here (the links take you to Twilight’s website)...

Kino has set Curse of the Faceless Man for Blu-ray release on 2/16/2016. Also coming soon to Blu-ray and DVD is André De Toth’s Hidden Fear (1957). And coming soon to Blu-ray from Kino is Phil Karlson’s 99 River Street (1953).

Well Go USA will release Park Heung-sik’s Korean actioner Memories of the Sword on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/5 as well.

Terwilliger Productions, LLC will release the aviation documentary One Six Right: The Romance of Flying – Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray on 12/1 (SRP $29.95).

Music Box Films has set Meru for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/17.

Etiquette Pictures has set the 1973 rock opera Catch My Soul for Blu-ray release on 11/17. The film stars Richie Havens and was directed by Patrick McGoohan.

Screen Media will release FDR: American Badass on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/17, starring Barry Bostwick and Kevin Sorbo.

Finally, here’s a bit of very cool classic Disney news: The British Film Institute has just announced that they’ve discovered a rare and believed lost Walt Disney animated film, Sleigh Bells (1928), in their archives. The film features “the first ever Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a long-eared precursor to Mickey Mouse.” You can read more here at the official BFI website.
