We’ve got some nifty bits of announcement news for you today, so let’s get to it…

First up, Paramount will release Hercules on Blu-ray Combo and Blu-ray 3D Combo on 11/4. Each will include both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film, along with audio commentary by director Brett Ratner and producer Beau Flynn, 15 deleted/extended scenes, and 5 featurettes (including Brett Ratner and Dwayne Johnson: An Introduction, Hercules and his Mercenaries, Weapons!, The Bessi Battle, and The Effects of Hercules).  [Read on here…]

Paramount will also release The Exes: Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD on 11/4.

While it still hasn’t officially been press-released by Disney, we’ve been saying that Guardians of the Galaxy was likely going to be a December title. Now Amazon has just listed the BD3D, BD and DVD for release on 12/9.

Meanwhile, Warner Home Video has just set Into the Storm for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/18.

Any fans out there of Moontrap, starring Walter Koenig and Bruce Campbell? Olive Films has just announced it for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/18. From their press release: “Moontrap is presented for the first time in widescreen format with its original monaural soundtrack. It was remastered in HD by Olive Films in 2014 specifically for this release. Special Features include: New video Interview with Bruce Campbell and Walter Koenig; New video interview with director Robert Dyke and writer Tex Ragsdale; Audio commentary by Robert Dyke and Tex Ragsdale.” Nice.

Drafthouse Films has set The Congress for BD release on 12/2, starring Robin Wright, Harvey Keitel, Paul Giamatti, and John Hamm.

Fox has just listed An So It Goes for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/18 as well. The film stars Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton.

Fox has also set White Collar: The Complete Fifth Season for DVD only release on 11/4.

Sony will release Paul Haggis’ Third Person on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/30.

Starz and Anchor Bay have set Free Fall for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/28, starring D.B. Sweeney and Malcolm McDowell.

Image is releasing Misfire on DVD on 10/21.

PBS Distribution has set Masterpiece Mystery: Inspector Lewis 7 on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/25.

Adam’s covered this already in his Burnt Offerings column but some of you may not have heard it yet: Warner Archive is releasing Yankee Doodle Dandy on Blu-ray on 10/14.

On the documentary front, Cohen Media Group is releasing Chuck Workman’s documentary What Is Cinema? on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/4, featuring a who’s who of landmark filmmakers.

And here’s something very interesting for you Battlestar Galactica fans. Universal Pictures UK has just set Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Original Series for BD release in the UK on 11/24, and the listing says the set will be region free. We obviously can’t verify this until it arrives in stores, and we don’t know if all the extras from the existing German BD set (reviewed here at The Bits) will carry over (for example if Galactica 1980 will also be included), but it may represent a better purchase option for US fans. At current exchange rates, it works out to about $80 plus shipping. Anyway, you can see the UK cover artwork below (with an Amazon.co.uk purchase link). Thanks to Bits reader Ian M. for the heads-up!

Finally, we now know the reason why Warner delayed their fancy schmancy Luxe Edition Blu-ray titles to 12/9: They’re going to be Best Buy exclusive titles for a limited time starting on 9/30. Does anyone still shop at Best Buy? Other than to get these irritating exclusives I mean? Judging by the feedback we’re hearing from readers, consumers are less than enthused. Anyway, more here at Home Media.

Here’s a look at the Blu-ray cover artwork for that UK Battlestar set (remember that this is an Amazon.co.uk link), plus Moontrap, What Is Cinema?, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and both versions of Hercules (the 2D version of Hercules isn’t yet listed for sale on Amazon but we’ll update the link as soon as it is)...

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Classic Series (UK All-Region BD)    Moontrap (Blu-ray Disc)    What Is Cinema? (Blu-ray Disc)

Hercules (Blu-ray 3D)    Hercules (Blu-ray Disc)    Yankee Doodle Dandy (Warner Archive Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned!
