All right, today is kind of a big day on the 4K Ultra HD announcement front, so let’s get right to it...

First up, Disney and Marvel have just officially confirmed that Avengers: Infinity War will street on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/14 – just as we predicted – with the Digital release planned for 7/31. You’ll get over two hours worth of extras, including featurettes, a gag reel, deleted scenes, and audio commentary with the filmmakers. The Digital edition will include an exclusive 30-minute roundtable with MCU directors Joe and Anthony Russo, James Gunn, Ryan Coogler, Peyton Reed, Jon Favreau, Joss Whedon, and Taika Waititi. You can see the official cover artwork at left and also below.

Also, you know how we’ve been telling you since April that Disney and Marvel would be releasing The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron on 4K Ultra HD concurrently with Infinity War on 8/14? Sure enough... both Zavvi and Best Buy have now begun taking pre-orders for them. Consider them confirmed and you can see the official cover artwork below. [Editor’s Note: Disney has now officially confirmed the 8/14 4K Ultra HD release of The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron with The Avengers: Infinity War. Audio is confirmed to be Dolby Atmos on all three. Waiting to hear back on HDR.] [Read on here...]

While we’re talking Marvel, our retail sources tell us that Ant-Man and the Wasp will street on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/16. Make your plans accordingly.

Not done yet... 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced that they’re delivering a Deadpool 2: Super Duper Extended Cut to Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/21, with the Digital release expected on 8/7. The Extended Cut will include 15 minutes of unseen footage (some of which will reportedly debut at Comic-Con later this month). Extras in the package will include audio commentary by Ryan Reynolds, David Leitch, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (on the theatrical version only), deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, 11 featurettes (Until Your Face Hurts: Alt Takes, Deadpool’s Lips are Sealed: Secrets and Easter Eggs, The Most Important X-Force Member, Deadpool Family Values: Cast of Characters, David Leitch Not Lynch: Directing DP2, Roll with the Punches: Action and Stunts, The Deadpool Prison Experiment, Chess with Omega Red, Swole and Sexy, 3-Minute Monologue, Deadpool’s Fun Sack 2), and a still gallery (with 28 images). You can see that official cover artwork below as well.

Are we done yet? Nope. Don’t even think it! A little studio birdy tells us that 20th Century Fox is about to finally officially announce the 4K Ultra HD release of Predator (1987) and the Predator: 3-Movie Collection for 8/7. It’s been the worst kept-secret around, and every retailer is already taking pre-orders for the titles, but there’s not yet been an official studio press release. But we expect that to change imminently. So we’ll post those details as soon as they come in.

Still not quite done today... we’ve been hearing from industry sources that Warner has quietly begun scanning Superman: The Movie in 4K for eventual release on 4K Ultra HD, as this year marks the film’s 40th anniversary (it was released theatrically in early December of 1978). And now we’re starting to hear from retail sources as well that a UHD release is indeed coming. We expect to see the title announced, possibly at Comic-Con, for release sometime in November or December.

And we’re now hearing from our industry and retail sources that Universal is preparing 4K Ultra HD editions of The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift for release in October. Presumably, the final two films not yet released in 4K, Fast & Furious and Fast Five, will follow sooner rather than later.

We’ve updated the 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with all of the above.

By the way, if you want to get the absolute latest breaking 4K Ultra HD release news as soon as we get it, I strongly recommend that you all follow me on Twitter @BillHuntBits. That’s usually where I share it first, often before I get the chance to post it here on The Bits. Of course, that’s my personal Twitter feed, so I share other things of interest to me as well, but if you don’t mind some personal interest stuff mixed in (spaceflight, science, technology, film observations, etc) a follow there might be worth your time. I’ve also been working on a science fiction novel (my first) among other projects, so that’s where I’ll share the first word of such things as well. Anyway, just thought I’d mention it. You’re all welcome!

Back on the announcement front, this is a little odd but Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the DVD only release of Netflix’s Stranger Things: Season 2 on 7/13. Except that no Blu-ray or 4K version is yet listed, nor do we know the studio. And Target doesn’t yet have either listed as an exclusive. If any of you guys see the title popping up anywhere online as a retail exclusive, let me know on Twitter (at the link above) would you? Gracias!

It looks like our friends at Shout! Factory are going to be releasing Platoon (1986) as a Blu-ray Collector’s Edition on 9/18. Scream Factory will release Scream for Help (1984) on Blu-ray that same day.

And finally, Paramount has just announced Book Club for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/28, with the Digital release expected on 8/14. The film stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Don Johnson, and Craig T. Nelson. Here’s Disney and Marvel’s home video announce trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron...

And here’s a look at that 4K Ultra HD cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above (click to pre-order the titles on Amazon if available, and if not we’ll add the links as soon as they’re live)...

The Avengers: Infinity War (4K Ultra HD) The Avengers (4K Ultra HD) The Avengers: Age of Ultron (4K Ultra HD)

Predator (4K Ultra HD) Predator Trilogy (4K Ultra HD) Deadpool 2: Super Duper Extended Cut (4K Ultra HD)

Stay tuned...
