All right, we have another Lionsgate/Tarantino 4K update for you today, but first we also have more new disc reviews to share with you...

Stephen has turned in his thoughts on Robert Wynne-Simmons’ The Outcasts (1982) in a new Deluxe Limited Edition Blu-ray from Deaf Crocodile Films, as well as Disney and Marvel’s Loki: The Complete Second Season in 4K UHD Steelbook.

I’ve offered my thoughts on Lee Isaac Chung’s recent sequel Twisters (2024) in 4K Ultra HD from Universal.

And Dennis has offered a look at Christopher Guest’s For Your Consideration (2006) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection, as well as the Coen Brothers’ No Country for Old Men (2007) on Blu-ray from the Criterion Collection.

More reviews will follow tomorrow and throughout the rest of the week.

Now then, Lionsgate has indeed officially announced Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown, Kill Bill: Volume 1, and Kill Bill: Volume 2 today for 4K Ultra HD release on 1/21. There will be Lionsgate Limited-exclusive Steelbook editions (SRP around $40) on that day, along with wide-release Amaray versions as well. [Read on here...]

In addition to the three new Steelbooks, there will also be a site-exclusive Steelbook of Reservoir Dogs (1991), which Lionsgate has already released widely in 4K UHD.

Note that Jackie Brown, Kill Bill: Volume 1, and Kill Bill: Volume 2 have all been remastered from new 4K scans of the original camera negatives. We’ve shared all the specs and details here at The Bits last night. But we thought you might appreciate a look at the cover artwork for all of these new 4K SKUs, including both the Steelbook and wide-release art, so here it is...

Jackie Brown (Lionsgate Limited 4K Steelbook) Kill Bill: Volume 1 (Lionsgate Limited 4K Steelbook) Kill Bill: Volume 2 (Lionsgate Limited 4K Steelbook)

Jackie Brown (4K Ultra HD) Kill Bill: Volume 1 (4K Ultra HD) Kill Bill: Volume 2 (4K Ultra HD)

Panic Room (4K Ultra HD) The Social Network (4K Ultra HD) Reservoir Dogs (Lionsgate Limited 4K Steelbook)

As you can see, we also included the cover artwork for David Fincher’s Panic Room and The Social Network, which Sony has recently announced for 4K Steelbook release on 2/18. That’s because both are now available for pre-order on Amazon by clicking on the cover images.

We’re not done yet: Sony has also just announced the 4K Ultra HD release of Howard Zieff’s My Girl (1991) on 2/25. Mastered from a new 4K scan and approved by cinematographer Paul Elliot, the disc will include Dolby Vision HDR, English 5.1 DTS-HD MA and English 2.0 audio, as well as the legacy special features.

Finally today, our friends at StudioCanal in the UK have just officially announced the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release of Anthony Harvey’s The Lion in Winter (1968) on February 17th in the UK only. But the 4K disc will be coded for Regions A, B, and C. The film stars Peter O’Toole, Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, and Timothy Dalton. Extras will include 2 new featurettes (The Heart of a Lion: An Interview with Sir Anthony Hopkins and Shooting Stars: An Interview with Camera Assistant Robin Vidgeon), along with legacy interviews with John Castle and John Bloom, and audio commentary by Anthony Harvey. You’ll also get a new behind-the-scenes gallery, and the new restoration trailer. You can see the cover artwork above left and also here (click to pre-order the title on Amazon UK)...

And here’s a look at that restoration trailer...

That’s all for the moment. Stay tuned!
