Extras will include over 20 minutes of additional scenes and 5 behind the scenes featurettes (including Quentin Tarantino’s Love Letter to Hollywood, Bob Richardson: For the Love of Film, Shop Talk: The Cars of 1969, Restoring Hollywood: The Production Design of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and The Fashion of 1969).
Here’s the cool part: You’ll be able to buy the 4K in a regular edition and also a limited 4K Ultra HD Collector’s Edition that includes “a 7” vinyl record with two of the soundtrack’s grooviest tunes (complete with turntable adapter), a collectible vintage poster for the Rick Dalton film Operazione Dyn-o-mite! and an exclusive new MAD Magazine parody of the Rick Dalton TV series Bounty Law, Lousy Law.” Here’s what the various wide-release versions look like (and you can ore-order them on Amazon.com right now—the Collector’s Edition link will be added when it becomes available)...
Note that there are various retail exclusives as well. Target’s BD will come with an exclusive film magazine replica. Walmart’s BD will come with collectible movie poster postcards. And Best Buy will have an exclusive BD Steelbook.
Also today, Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the 1/14/2020 release of a newly remastered Beverly Hills Cop 3-Movie Collection on Blu-ray, in honor of the original film’s 35th anniversary. The films will also be available in 4K on 12/17, but not on physical Ultra HD—it’s Digital 4K only. And that’s disappointing as hell, but probably also not surprising given the studio’s recent preference for releasing catalog titles in 4K that way.
In any case, the Blu-ray set includes 2 never-before-seen deleted scenes, 4 new behind-the-scenes featurettes (incorporating vintage 1984 interviews), Harold Faltermeyer’s score on an isolated audio track, and a BHC Mixtape ’84 option which allows viewers to skip directly to the film’s songs.
Here’s what that looks like (an Amazon link will be added when it becomes available)...
Back later with more. Stay tuned...
