All right, we’ve got some interesting release news to report today. First though…

We’ve posted several new Blu-ray reviews in the last couple of days, including my take on Warner Archive’s Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero and the Kino Lorber Studio Classics title Joan of Arc, as well as Tim’s thoughts on Warner Archive’s Joe Versus the Volcano, Arrow Video’s There’s Always Vanilla, Shout!/Scream Factory’s Colossus: The Forbin Project and 78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene, and Universal’s Happy Death Day. Enjoy!

Now then, Shout! Factory has announced that they’re going to be bringing Disney’s Gravity Falls: The Complete Series to Blu-ray and DVD on 7/24 (SRP $99.99 and $59.97 respectively, though if you purchase them from Shout! directly you get $20 off the BD and $10 off the DVD). [Read on here...]

The 7-disc BD set will include all 40 episodes along with great special features that are yet to be announced. You can see the cover artwork for the Blu-ray set above left.

Also today, the Warner Archive is returning Tex Avery’s Droopy to print on DVD on 4/10.

Vinegar Syndrome has announced their May Blu-ray slate, which is set to include Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song (1971), Her Name Was Lisa (1980), and Bloodsuckers from Outer Space (1984). Street date is 5/29.

Paramount is releasing a Coming to America: 30th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray on 6/12. They also have a Trading Places: 35th Anniversary Edition coming that same day, along with a Jack Ryan 5-Movie Collection box and a Mission: Impossible 5-Movie Collection box.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing Wim Wenders’ Submergence on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/15. The film stars Alicia Vikander and James McAvoy.

Kino Lorber is releasing King Hu’s Legend of the Mountain (1979) on Blu-ray on 5/1, mastered from a new 4K scan and restoration. That same day, look for The Half-Breed (1916), starring Douglas Fairbanks, on Blu-ray. The company is also releasing a new 4K restoration of Andrei Tarkovsky’s The Sacrifice (1986) on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/15.

Magnolia is releasing Please Stand By on Blu-ray on 5/1, starring Dakota Fanning, Toni Collette, and Alice Eve.

And a quick heads-up: Warner’s 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K Ultra HD has been pulled down from Amazon.com pre-order, but don’t read into it. There are a number of reasons why this could be, including a street date change, a database error, or simply the fact that Warner hasn’t officially announced the title yet. Nevertheless, the title IS still coming.

Finally today, Media Play News (formerly Home Media Magazine and Video Store Magazine) has just kicked off the online voting for their annual Home Media Awards honoring the best of home entertainment for the past year. I’ll be serving as one of the judges again this year, but you too can weigh in with your picks here: https://www.mediaplaynews.com/awards/ballot/ Voting is open until 4/6 and the winners will be announced on 4/23.

That’s all for now! Stay tuned…
