Just a couple of quick things to report news-wise today...
First, our friends at the Warner Archive Collection have officially confirmed that they’re bringing Hanna-Barbera’s Jonny Quest animated series to Blu-ray this year. The show premiered on November 18, 1964 and there are only 26 episodes, so it should be nicely affordable. Warner Archive is holding a panel on the release over at Wonder-Con in Anaheim, Ca next week. Warner Archive’s Jonny Quest: Better in Blu panel will be on Friday, 3/29 at 1PM. Should be pretty cool.
Speaking of animation, the animators who worked on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have created their own Animator’s Commentary for the film which you can download here over on the On Animation website. Well done, guys!
And, the big news is that Apple has just unveiled their Apple TV+ streaming service. But they didn’t reveal a lot of details. We know the service will launch this Fall, it will be available in 100+ countries, and they’ve spent $1 billion creating exclusive original content for the service, featuring some of the big entertainment names – Steven Spielberg, JJ Abrams, Octavia Butler, Jennifer Anniston, Steve Carrell, etc. You can read more here at The Verge.
Finally, director James Cameron just Tweeted this in response to Rian Johnson and Ryan Reynolds asking him about True Lies and The Abyss being available in HD (for streaming, disc, etc)...
We know that the color grade for The Abyss is done at least, so we believe it’s safe to assume that film is coming soon in HD and 4K. But it’s also good to see others trying to nudge the director to get True Lies done as well. Fingers crossed.
All right, gotta get back to reviews. More soon.
Stay tuned...
