In announcement news today, Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set Robert Aldrich’s The Longest Yard (1974) for 4K Ultra HD release on 5/16. It will feature a new 4K scan of the original 35 mm camera negative with Dolby Vision HDR and substantial extras. You can see the cover artwork for that, plus KLSC’s The Night of the Hunter (1955) in 4K, below.
Paramount has announced a new Transformers Limited Edition Steelbook 6-Movie Collection for release on 5/30 that includes Transformers, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Bumblebee on both 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. SRP is $153.99. Note that these are the same discs released previously, just repackaged.
A24 is taking pre-orders on a shop-exclusive release of Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse (2019) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. The title is expected to ship on 3/28.
Sony has set Oliver Hermanus’ Living (2022) for Blu-ray release on 4/11. The film stars Bill Nighy and is based on Akira Kurosawa’s classic drama Ikiru (1952).
Also today, our friends at Turbine Medien GmbH have revealed that they’re working on a new Blu-ray Complete Series box set release of the classic 1980s NBC TV series The A-Team.
And Warner Bros. has just delayed the release of their Superman: 5-Film Collection from 4/18 to 5/9. We don’t know if this is simply a manufacturing delay or if there’s some other reason for it, but we’ll post an update if we hear more.
