All right, we’re starting this afternoon with a few more new disc reviews for you to enjoy...

Stephen has posted his thoughts on Curtis Bernhardt’s 1929 silent drama The Woman One Longs For, featuring only the second starring role for actress Marlene Dietrich. That’s now available on Blu-ray from Kino Classics.

Also, Dennis has offered a look at John Farrow’s 1949 film noir Alias Nick Beal, available on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Do give both of them a look.

In Blu-ray release news today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC have just set Batwoman: The Complete Second Season for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/21 featuring all 18 episodes along with deleted scenes, a gag reel, and 2 featurettes (Villains Analyzed and Never Alone: Heroes and Allies).

WBHE has also set the animated Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog for release on DVD and Digital on 9/14. [Read on here...]

Lionsgate will also release Occupation Rainfall on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/10, as well as Finding You on DVD only that same day.

We also have some significant 4K Ultra HD release news to report today...

As we mentioned the other day, Lionsgate will release Spiral: From the Book of Saw on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Steelbook on 7/20, with the Digital release expected on 7/13. The film stars Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. The 4K UHD release will include both Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Extras on will include audio commentary with director Darren Lynn Bousman, co-screenwriter Josh Stolberg, and composer Charlie Clouser, a second commentary with producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg, 3 featurettes (The Consequences of Your Actions: Creating Spiral, Drawing Inspiration: Illustrated Trap Breakdowns, and Decoding the Marketing Spiral), and the film’s teaser and theatrical trailers.

Blue Underground has just officially set Maniac Cop 2 and Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence for release on 4K Ultra HD on 10/19. Each will include Dolby Vision HDR and new Dolby Atmos sound mixes, along with hours of previously-released (on Blu-ray) extras. SRP is $49.98 each.

Our retail sources are reporting that Warner Bros. will release The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on 8/24, followed by In the Heights on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on 8/31.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on 8/24. We don’t have cover artwork yet, but here’s the Amazon pre-order link for the 4K Ultra HD.

Meanwhile, Paramount has set Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for release on 4K Ultra HD on 9/14. Again, we don’t have final cover artwork yet, but you can pre-order the 4K UHD here on Amazon now.

Not done yet... we’re now getting more confirmation that Universal Studios Home Entertainment is getting ready to release John Carpenter’s The Thing on 4K Ultra HD in September (the US street date is likely to be 9/21). The title is already up for pre-order via some German retailers with a street date of 9/23.

Here’s a nice surprise: European retail sources are also reporting that Disney’s long-awaited Who Framed Roger Rabbit 4K Ultra HD release will arrive in October (the German date is currently 10/14, so expect the US release on 10/12). And they’re also showing a new title from Disney: M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable is expected in Europe in late September (the German date is 9/23, so expect a US release on 9/21). We’ve reached out to Disney here in the States for official confirmation on these tiles and also the long-anticipated Heat 4K UHD from Fox (which was due in August, at least report from the studio). We’ll let you know when we hear back.

Finally, we’re hearing more unofficial rumblings that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will finally be releasing Zack Snyder’s Justice League on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD here in the States sometime in Q3 or Q4. Our guess is that they wanted to keep the title as an HBO Max exclusive here in the US a little longer. We’ll post more on this as we hear it.

All of this information has been added to our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.

That’s all for today! Stay tuned...
