We’re working on more disc reviews here at the site today, but we do have a couple of things for you today…

First up, on Monday night I was able to post my in-depth review of HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection in 4K Ultra HD here at The Bits.

It’s a very impressive set, I have to say. It’s not cheap, but if you’re a fan, it’s a better picture and sound upgrade than you might be expecting. You can see all the details for yourself here.

Also, Dennis has turned in his thoughts on Lamont Johnson’s The Groundstar Conspiracy (1972), now available on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. The Hal Roach Studios/Universal title stars George Peppard.

In announcement news today, Acorn has set the BBC One thriller The Nest for DVD release on 11/17. [Read on here...]

Uncork’d Entertainment has announced that Darcy Weir’s Sasquatch Among the Wildmen will arrive on DVD and Digital on 11/10.

Meanwhile, RLJ Entertainment has announced their December slate, which will include Downrange on DVD on 12/8, The Sommerdahl Murders: Series 1 and The Secrets She Keeps on DVD on 12/15, and The Opening Act on Blu-ray and DVD, The Tax Collector 4K/BD Steelbook, The Dark and The Wicked on Blu-ray and DVD, and The Beach House on Blu-ray and DVD all on 12/15.

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced a few more of their February 2021 slate of titles, which will include Budd Boetticher’s Wings of the Hawk (1953) in 2D and 3D and Barry Rosen’s Devil’s Express (1976 – for Code Red) on 2/9, Danny Steinmann’s The Unseen (1980 – for Scorpion Releasing) and Jack Weis’ Mardi Gras Massacre (1978 – for Code Red) on 2/16, and Larry Peerce’s Hard to Hold (1984), The Other Side of the Mountain (1975), and The Other Side of the Mountain 2 (1978) on 2/23.

Finally today, we’ve got an update on the Psycho Blu-ray/4K replacement disc situation. To recap: Universal’s recent Blu-ray and 4K release of Psycho was supposed to include the original theatrical mono audio and instead included a mono fold-down of the new 5.1 mix. So Universal started a replacement program for the discs. Those replacement discs DID start shipping out last week, but readers who received them noted that they STILL included the faulty mono audio. So I reported this to my contacts at Universal, and here is there response…

“To our valued customers:

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment recently instituted a replacement program for consumers who purchased the September 8, 2020 release of Psycho on Blu-ray and 4K UHD included in the Psycho – 60th Anniversary Edition and The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection. The initial run of the film’s Blu-ray and 4K UHD discs produced inadvertently omitted Psycho’s original 1960 mono track. Due to an unintended error, certain consumers received a replacement disc from this original batch of discs, instead of the newly corrected version. We have identified those impacted and will be resending the correct version as soon as possible. To receive an updated Psycho disc, please visit the UPHE Support website (https://www.uphe.com/en/contact-support) or directly email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you have already submitted a request for and/or already received a replacement disc, you will receive the corrected one once it is ready – you do not need to submit another request. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.”

SO… there you go.

Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned!
