All right, we’ve got some great release news and more new disc reviews for you today to start the new week off right!

Let’s get to those reviews first…

Tim has turned in his thoughts on the Warner Archive Collection’s excellent Tom & Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology (1940-1958) Blu-ray release, which is well worth your time for classic animation fans!

Dennis has offered his take on Richard Fleischer’s The Narrow Margin (1952) also in Blu-ray also from the Warner Archive Collection.

And Stephen has delivered his look at Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Diva (1981) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

As expected, we’ve got a great line up of new Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD reviews coming every day this week, so you’ll definitely want to keep checking back daily for those.

Now then… the big news today is that Variety has just revealed that Netflix has licensed two more titles to the Criterion Collection, including Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein (2025) and Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’s animated hit K-Pop Demon Hunters (2025) from Sony Pictures Animation! This means both films are likely to be released on both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD later this year. [Read on here...]

Stephen’s look at Dario Argento’s The Card Player (2004) in 4K Ultra HD from Vinegar Syndrome.

And Dennis’ thoughts on Cliff Owen’s The Wrong Arm of the Law (1963) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

In terms of announcement news today, Lionsgate has set its own 4K Ultra HD release of George Hickenlooper, Fax Bahr, and Eleanor Coppola’s Hearts of Darkness (1991) documentary—on the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now (1979)—for release here in the States on 12/9. It will include The Making of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse as a special feature. This film was recently restored in 4K by StudioCanal, and you can read my review of their 4K release here at The Bits.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just announced that their 4K Ultra HD release of Chris Noonan’s Babe (1995) and George Miller’s Babe: Pig in the City (1998) will officially street on 12/16. [Read on here...]

Dennis’ thoughts on Amanda and Michael Drexton’s Sour Party (2023) on Blu-ray from Anchor Bay Entertainment, as well as Clarence Brown’s Intruder in the Dust (1949) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

And Stuart’s thoughts on John Ford’s 7 Women (1966) on Blu-ray, also from the Warner Archive Collection.

Now then… let’s get right into the good stuff: Our friends at Paramount are finally going to be releasing Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report (2002) in 4K Ultra HD and 4K Steelbook format on 12/9 (SRP $30.00 and 36.99)! Look for the 4K disc to include Dolby Vision HDR and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, plus all of the legacy special features on a Blu-ray bonus disc. Now then, the big announcement news today is that Universal has just officially set Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K Steelbook on 9/9, with the Digital version available as of today. The 4K will be a 100GB disc featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10 with Dolby Atmos audio. [Read on here...]

We’re starting the week here at The Bits with more new disc reviews and some great announcement news as well!

But first, I just wanted to let you all know that we’ve stabilized the website to address some software and loading issues that we’ve been experiencing recently. We’re not 100% back to normal, but the site should at least be loading faster now than it was before. We’ll be doing some additional upgrades in the week ahead, so more on that topic soon.

My review (with longtime Bits contributor Adam Jahnke) of William Friedkin’s Sorcerer (1977) in 4K Ultra HD from the Criterion Collection! The disc streets on 6/24, and the A/V quality is superb.

I’ve also reviewed the new UFO: The Complete SHADO Files Blu-ray box set from our friends at Imprint Television, which contains the best HD quality of any Blu-ray release of Gerry Anderson’s UFO (1970-71) to date, along with the most complete collection of special features.

We’ve got some great announcement news to report here at The Digital Bits today, at the start of a new week...

First of all, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have begun announcing new 4K Ultra HD catalog titles licensed from Paramount, which so far include Stephen Surjik’s Wayne’s World 2 (1993) and Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s Kingpin (1996). We also expect Ken Finkleman’s Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) to be revealed soon as well. All are reported to be “coming soon” and we expect more titles to be revealed in the weeks ahead.

While we’re talking KL Studio Classics, we’ve learned that their already announced 4K release of Dante’s Peak (1997) has been delayed from its original 2/11 street date to 5/27. So adjust your plans accordingly.

Meanwhile, Paramount has officially set Star Trek: Section 31 (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, and Digital release on 4/29. Extras will include 5 featurettes (Art Squad, Alpha Squad, Stunts Squad, Gear Squad, and Georgiou) as well as a gag reel. (Though based on the reviews, the entire film may as well be a gag reel.) The Blu-ray SKUs will include Dolby Atmos audio.

Neon has set Steven Soderbergh’s Presence (2024) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 5/20. [Read on here...]
