Boogie Nights hits 4K in December, plus Spinal Tap II, Ace Ventura 4K from Via Vision, Edward Scissorhands pre-orders & more!

Today’s new disc reviews including a great classic animated release and a new 4K catalog title as well. Specifically …

Tim has turned in his thoughts on Hanna-Barbera’s classic The Huckleberry Hound Show: The Complete Series (1958-61) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

And Stephen has shared his take on Sam Raimi’s The Quick and the Dead: 30th Anniversary Edition (1995) in 4K Ultra HD Steelbook from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Now then, the big news today is that PT Anderson’s Boogie Nights (1997) is finally up for pre-order on Amazon from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. There are two configurations, a wide Amaray package and a Steelbook. Each is 4K + Digital only. Now, there hasn’t yet been an official press release from the studio—we expect that soon. But the street date is 12/9. [Read on here...]

In any case, each will include HDR10 high dynamic range and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mixes, along with the legacy Blu-ray and DVD special features. You can see the cover art above left and also below…

Meanwhile, Decal Releasing has set Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (2025) for 4K Steelbook release on 11/11. Extras will include deleted scenes. Here’s the open packaging for that as well...

Via Vision has just announced a new 4K Ultra HD catalog release that’s due on 12/10: Tom Shadyac’s Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). Look for it to include Dolby Vision HDR and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, plus the legacy extras. The run is limited to 2500 units and you can pre-order here on their website. By the way, for those of you who missed Via Vision’s excellent Imprint Television Blu-ray releases of Space: 1999 – The Complete Series and UFO: The Complete SHADO Files, both are coming back as standard edition releases (minus the hardcase packaging and swag) on 12/10 as well.
