All right, this is probably going to be our last post for the week, giving the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States, though we may come back and let you know of any particularly good Black Friday-related Blu-ray and DVD deals as they pop up. Be sure to check our Facebook page for the latest on that score.
But before we go, we have some good stuff for you here at The Bits today…
First of all, our own Michael Coate has just posted a lengthy new History, Legacy & Showmanship column celebrating the 25th anniversary of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! He’s got release trivia, a list of initial 70mm screenings, and new interviews with film historians and authors Scott Higgins, Eric Lichtenfeld, Joseph McBride and Jonathan Rinzler. Don’t miss it! Okay, just a couple quick things for you guys today as I’m fighting off a wicked cold recently visited upon our household by travelers from Iowa. LOL.
Our own Jeff Kleist has turned in a review of Ender’s Game on Blu-ray from Summit Entertainment & Lionsgate.
And in announcement news today, Scream Factory has set David Cholewa’s “international apocalyptic sci-fi film” Dead Shadows for Blu-ray and DVD release in the States on 4/29. Extras will include a special effects featurette, delete scenes, an interview with the director, and the film’s teaser and theatrical trailers.
Entertainment One has set Monsters: The Complete Series for 9-disc DVD release on 3/18. This is the 3-season/72-episode series that ran on the Sci-Fi Channel in the 1990s.
And CBS and Paramount have set Californiacation: The Sixth Season for DVD only release on 3/25.
That’s it! Have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here on Monday. Peace out...

All right, there’s not a lot of news to report this afternoon and we’ve been working new Blu-ray reviews all day. So today’s post is limited to this…
Longtime classic Battlestar Galactica fan and expert Jeff Kleist has turned in his in-depth review of Koch Media GmbH’s Region B/Amazon Germany-exclusive Blu-ray release of Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series, which also includes the complete spin-off series Galactica 1980. Even given the hoops you have to jump through, as a Region A consumer, to obtain an all region (and PAL compatible) BD player and a PAL compatible display, if you’re a fan of this franchise the German set is your only HD option… and it also happens to be pretty terrific. Click here to read all the details in Jeff’s review.
We have more news and BD reviews to come tomorrow, so stay tuned!
