The big news today is that Disney has just announced a new Bambi: Anniversary Edition – Walt Disney Signature Collection for release on Blu-ray/DVD combo, DVD, and digital on 6/6 (SRP $39.99). The Disney Movies Anywhere version will be available on 5/23. Extras will include most of the classic Blu-ray bonus features, along with the following all-new content: The Bambi Effect, Studio Stories: Bambi, 2 deleted scenes (Bambi’s Ice and Snow and The Grasshopper), Bambi Fawn facts, and the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated short Africa Before Dark. There’s also a digital exclusive short: Celebrating Tyrus Wong. You can see the cover art to the left and below.

The other big news is that HBO has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of the successful Big Little Lies limited series on 8/1, and the digital version is actually available today for those who can’t wait. Extras will include 6 Inside the Episode featurettes, plus the About Big Little Lies featurette with “never-before-seen cast interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.” [Read on here…]

We’ve got some nifty bits of announcement news for you today, so let’s get to it…

First up, Paramount will release Hercules on Blu-ray Combo and Blu-ray 3D Combo on 11/4. Each will include both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film, along with audio commentary by director Brett Ratner and producer Beau Flynn, 15 deleted/extended scenes, and 5 featurettes (including Brett Ratner and Dwayne Johnson: An Introduction, Hercules and his Mercenaries, Weapons!, The Bessi Battle, and The Effects of Hercules).  [Read on here…]

We’re closing out the week with a bunch more interesting bits of announcement and release news, and a little bit of detail on some already announced upcoming titles. If so, you’ll be pleased to hear that MGM is finally releasing Leone’s Duck, You Sucker (a.k.a. A Fistful of Dynamite, a.k.a. Once Upon a Time in the Revolution) on Blu-ray Disc on 10/7 (SRP $19.99). All right, the big news today is that Walt Disney Home Entertainment has just delivered on the classic catalog animation front as we expected them to: The studio has just officially set The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad: Special Edition, the Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Special Edition, the Hercules: Special Edition, the Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers – 10th Anniversary Edition, and the Tarzan: Special Edition for Blu-ray/DVD Combo release on 8/12 (SRP $29.99 each). In addition, Disney has also just officially set the Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition for Blu-ray Combo release on 10/7 ($36.99). Also today, Warner Home Video has announced another Blu-ray version of Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music, specifically a new 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Revisited box set on 7/29 (SRP $39.96) that includes everything from the previous (but apparently not truly) Ultimate Collector’s Edition and adds new and unseen concert footage from Jefferson Airplane, Joan Baez, Santana, The Who, and more, as well as new swag (including a reproduction of the original Woodstock Festival tickets and vintage articles from Life Magazine and The New York Times).
