Shanghai Triad, Adaptation, Comic-Con at Home, Bugs Bunny, Superman, and Flintstones Blu-rays from Warner & more
All right, we’ve got a few good bits of news and such to wrap up the week...
First up though, we’ve just updated our Release Dates & Artwork section with tons of new Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you pre-order literally anything from our links here at The Bits, you’re helping to support our work and we surely do appreciate it.
Now then, we have word that Mamoru Oshii’s much-loved 1995 anime Ghost in the Shell will indeed street on 4K Ultra HD from Lionsgate on 9/8 (though do keep in mind that this date—while leaked by multiple retail sources now—is not yet officially announced by the studio). What’s more, it’s now available for pre-order on Amazon (here and also by clicking on the art below the break).
Also up for pre-order in 4K from Lionsgate is Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream. No street date is yet listed, but sources tell us it’s likely to arrive on 10/13. Again, you can see the cover artwork below. [Read on here...]

My Bloody Valentine update, Parasite, Quiet Place 4K Steelbook, new BD reviews, and more on CES & physical media
All right, we’ve got some news and more perspective on CES and the state of physical media here at the start of 2020. But first, we have more new Blu-ray reviews for you...
First of all, Dennis provides another perspective on Todd Phillips’ Joker on BD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. He seems to have liked it a little more than I did. Do check out his thoughts.
Dennis has also turned in a look at Aaron Schimberg’s Chained for Life on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber.
Speaking of Scream, the company has just announced that their forthcoming Blu-ray Collector’s Edition of My Bloody Valentine is going to include new 4K scans of both the original theatrical edition and also the Uncut version mastered from the original camera negative. [Read on here...]

Ford v Ferrari officially announced, plus Queen & Slim, Ip Man 4, and Force 10 from Navarone
All right, it turns out that other than the usual new models of 4K and 8K display—and the Filmmaker Mode announcement that we already covered—there’s not really a whole lot of worthy 4K UHD news to report from CES 2020.
So we’re working new disc reviews for you, including a number of 4K Ultra HD titles that we expect to start posting tomorrow.
We do have one new review for you for today: Tim has checked out Scream Factory’s new Blu-ray release of Val Guest’s The Abominable Snowman (1957), a Hammer Films title some of you may have missed. Do give it a look.
Now them... we do have some good new title announcements, as well as some new cover artwork to share with you today. [Read on here...]
Lionsgate makes Hurt Locker a 4K Digital only, plus Parasite & a 4K Ultra HD street date update
We’ve got a bit of interesting 4K Ultra HD news for you today...
First, on the all digital front, Lionsgate has just set Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker as Digital only 4K release on 2/4.
It’ll feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.
Of course, we know that most of you are physical disc consumers, so we’ve got a street date update for you guys today as well—covering forthcoming Blu-ray and 4K new releases.
The following information comes from studio and retail sources, but none of these titles have actually been announced yet.
So just be aware that the dates listed below could change a little bit still, as often happens before the studio makes their street dates official. [Read on here...]
