With Paramount’s long-awaited (and lovingly-restored) My Fair Lady: 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray finally arriving in stores today, our own Michael Coate has published a look back at the film’s original theatrical release along with a new roundtable interview with historians about the film’s legacy. Well… Amazon UK has essentially confirmed what we already knew, which is that Brad Bird’s remastered The Iron Giant is coming to Blu-ray soon. Amazon.co.uk has a “To Be Announced” listing for the Blu-ray SKU up. The movie comes back to theaters for event showings tomorrow and Sunday (10/4), so I would expect an official Blu-ray announcement as early as next week. The disc will certainly be available in time for the holidays. It’s kind of the perfect holiday gift title.  [Read on here…]

All right, let’s start with good news about CBS’ recent restoration of My Fair Lady. As we’ve been reporting, CBS has told us the title was delayed until the Fall. Playbill is now reporting that the My Fair Lady: 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray will officially street on 10/27. Why October? Well, the film originally premiered in New York on 10/21, followed by Los Angeles on 10/28 back in 1964.  [Read on here…]

All right, so now it looks as if there are two Blu-ray versions of Fox’s The Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition due on 3/10. The 2-disc edition we mentioned yesterday (SRP $24.99 but Amazon has it for $17.49) and also a 5-disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition (SRP $49.99 but Amazon has it for $34.99).  [Read on here…]
