The big piece of announcement news today is that Marvel and Disney have just unveiled their Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection for Blu-ray release on 12/8 exclusively on Amazon.com. The SRP is $249.99, but Amazon is selling it for $219.99. The 13-disc set includes Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and Digital Copy versions of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man in custom “orb” packaging that “contains one of the legendary Infinity Stones”. Additional swag in the package includes “a gold-foiled page from the book of Dark Elves, an ancient drawing from the Morag vault, Avengers and S.T.R.I.K.E. uniform patches, and a replica of the Tony Stark tattoo from Marvel’s Iron Man 3.” Here’s what the package looks like, and you can click on the artwork to pre-order it on Amazon now...
If you’re a sports fan, a company called Team Marketing has just set The Red Bull Media House Film Collection for Blu-ray release on 11/24 (SRP $225.00). It will include “twelve original Red Bull Media House films featuring elite athletes from innovative sport disciplines that they’ve helped pioneer.”
And finally today, Amazon has finally posted almost all of the pre-order links for Fox’s The X-Files: The Complete Series box set (SRP $299.99) and the 9 seasons of the show individually (SRP $29.99 each). Street date is 12/8 for all SKUs and you can pre-order any and all of them by clicking on the cover artwork below (remember, doing so helps support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it!). None of the prices listed have Amazon discounts applied, so it’s quite possible the prices will change slightly when the final cover art and details are added. Note that the individual season art below is the Canadian bi-lingual cover art, but the US art should be virtually identical minus the French text (Season 5 is finally up too)…
