Glengarry Glen Ross, Undying Monster, Bill & Ted update, Middle Earth update, new Kino/Olive & more!

by

First up today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, whenever you order items from Amazon after clicking through one of our links you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we truly appreciate it.

We’re going to have to wait for official announcements, but more likely these are just repackages of existing discs in new packaging, probably with all-new swag items – a typical Warner move on Ultimate Collector’s Edition catalog releases in recent years. But we’ll see soon enough.  [Read on here…]

Speaking of Lionsgate, the company has announced the long-awaited Blu-ray release of Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) on 10/11. We believe this is the first time the title has been available on the format here in the States (it was previously available on BD in Italy, Germany, and elsewhere internationally).

Meanwhile, Shout! Factory has announced the final list of extras you’ll find on their forthcoming Bill & Ted’s Most Excellent Collection on Blu-ray (due on 9/20). An Interview with Guitarist Steve Vai, Air Guitar Tutorial with Bjorn Turoque & The Rockness Monster, and Vintage EPK), plus theatrical trailers.

Scream Factory’s Dead Ringers: Collector’s Edition is now officially set for release on Blu-ray on 11/15 and we have final cover artwork (see below).

Paramount has made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows official for Blu-ray Combo, Blu-ray 3D Combo, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release on 9/20 (with the Digital HD release due on 9/6). Extras on the Blu-ray versions will include Deleted Scenes, and 6 featurettes (We Are Family, Whoa! Expanding the Turtleverse, House Party, It’s Tricky: Inside the Van, ILM: The Effects Beneath the Shell, and Did You Catch That? Turtle Eggs!)

Olive Films has just announced their October catalog Blu-ray slate, which is set to include Gas-s-s-s (1970), Sang-ho Yeon’s The King of Pigs (2011) and The Fake (2013), Little Fauss and Big Halsy (1970), Villa Rides (1968), The Return of Dracula (1958), Strategic Air Command (1955), and Special Effects (1984), all on 10/18.

Showtime has also set a new Dexter: The Complete Series Blu-ray set for release on 10/4 in more streamlined packaging (SRP $135.99).

Finally today, we have word that the world’s first 8K “Super High Vision” TV broadcasts are going to happen soon from the NHK in Japan, and of course it’s coverage of the Rio Olympic Games. More here via ars technica.

We’ll leave you with a look at a little more new Blu-ray cover artwork (with clickable Amazon pre-order links if available – we’ll add the missing ones as soon as they go live on Amazon)…
