The Invisible Man official, plus classic Dr. Who films on BD & Sony’s Columbia Classics 4K Collection detailed

All right, we’ve got some more release news today and a follow-up on recent news as well...

First though, Tim has turned in his thoughts on Andrew Lane’s Jake Speed (1986), recently released on Blu-ray by Arrow Video.

Now them, first up today: I’ve officially confirmed with Universal Studios Home Entertainment that they have not officially announced the release of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws on 4K Ultra HD yet. HOWEVER... they will be doing so soon. So we’ll have the officially details for you when they do.

I guess this is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, or more likely there are simply a LOT of people who need to weigh in and approve such things before they get officially announced. Which we expect to happen soonish. [Read on here...]

In the meantime, two things for you...

Universal has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Leigh Whannel’s The Invisible Man on 5/26, with the Digital release expected on 5/12. The 4K disc and Blu-ray will include Dolby Atmos audio. The 4K disc will also feature HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision high dynamic range. Extras will include deleted scenes, audio commentary with Whannel, and 4 featurettes (Moss Manifested, Director’s Journey with Leigh Whannel, The Players, and Timeless Terror). Also, Kino Lorber Studio Classics have set the classic films Dr. Who and the Daleks and Dr. Who: Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 AD for release on Blu-ray on 7/7. Finally today, Amazon has now lowered the price for Sony’s Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection to just dropped to $112. Here’s the cover artwork link to that...

And while we’re at it, Sony has sent the specific details on what the set will include. The box will feature an 80-page book of in-depth essays about each film written by historian Julie Kurgo. You’ll also get an exclusive bonus disc “featuring excerpts from Columbia Pictures’ televised 50th anniversary special, which originally aired in 1975 and has never been officially available. These excerpts feature rare on-camera insights from such luminaries as Frank Capra, Phil Silvers and Orson Welles. This exclusive disc also includes the vintage behind-the-scenes documentary Mr. Attenborough and Mr. Gandhi, which was filmed on the set of Gandhi and features interviews with cast and crew.”
