Good afternoon, Bits readers! We’ve got the usual mix of news and announcements for you today, but first as always we have more new disc reviews to share with you, including…

Stephen’s look at Peter Berg’s The Rundown (2003) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.

And Dennis’ thoughts on Ole Bornedal’s The Nightwatch Collection on Blu-ray from Arrow Video, which includes Nightwatch (1994) and Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever (2023).

More reviews are coming later this week. Tim’s already hard at work on Warner’s The Nightmare on Elm Street 4K box set, Stephen is looking at Sony’s The Quick and the Dead 4K, and I’m going to knock out my thoughts on 20th Century’s The Sound of Music in 4K Ultra HD soon as well.

Also, I wanted to let all of you know that we’ve finally begun updating our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits once again. I know the page is popular with our readers, but back when we were having server and software issues over the summer, updating the list was one of the things that took a back seat in our mad scramble to get the site back to normal and fully functional once again. All of our 4K reviews have now been linked, and we’ll be working all week long to update all of the studio listings as well. So thanks for your patience! [Read on here...]

In announcement news today… Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Chris Columbus’ Rent (2005) for 4K Ultra HD release on 11/18 in honor of the film’s 20th anniversary. It’ll include Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos audio, and all the legacy special features.

Universal has set Justin Tipping’s Him (2025) for Digital release on 10/7, with the physical Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD release set for 11/11. The football-themed horror/thriller is produced by Jordan Peele. Extras will include an alternate ending, deleted scenes, multiple behind-the-scenes featurettes, and audio commentary with the director.

Disney has just set Nisha Ganatra’s Freakier Friday (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 11/11, with the digital version also expected tomorrow on 10/7. The film stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

[Editor’s Note: After checking with Disney, we’ve confirmed that the mention of 4K disc in the Freakier Friday press release is an error. The title will be Blu-ray and DVD only on physical disc.]

Paramount would like you to know that it’s releasing all ten seasons and a complete series bundle of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 4K Digital on 10/20 on honor of the series’ 35th anniversary. The episodes have all been scanned and remastered from the original negatives, remixed, and they’re presented in 1.78:1.

Our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have revealed that Burt Kennedy’s The War Wagon (1976) is coming soon to 4K UHD. The classic Technicolor western stars John Wayne and Kirk Douglas.

And Well Go USA has set Louis Mandylor’s Prisoner of War (2025) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/19.

In other news today, GKids is returning Satoshi Kon’s anime horror classic Perfect Blue (1997) to theaters this week in an all-new 4K restoration. It’s likely that a physical 4K UHD release is forthcoming as well from GKids via Shout! Factory.

I wanted to give a shout out this afternoon to our friends at Media Psychos. You can find them on Facebook, X, and Instagram, and they have their own website here. They’ve assembled a great community for physical media discussion, and they also create and/or source amazing limited edition premium packaging for their members for some of your favorite titles. I’ll confess, I’m relatively new to the world of custom premium packaging, but it’s quite the rabbit hole. So welcome, Alice! And if you sign up over there (if you’re not already a member), tell ‘em The Bits sent you.

Also today, our friends at ColinCantwell.com are still extending a 10% discount to Digital Bits readers for original signed prints and other items in their online store. As many of you already know, Colin was an amazingly talented concept artist and director who worked on such films as 2001: A Space Odyssey and WarGames. He was even involved the CBS News studio broadcast of the Apollo 11 Moon landing working with Walter Cronkite back in the summer of 1969. But it’s for his work on George Lucas’ Star Wars that Colin is best known, as he was the first concept artist (he was hired in 1974) to take a shot at designing the X-Wing and TIE Fighters, as well as the Star Destroyer and other spacecraft. Anyway, be sure to check out their website and if you see anything you’re interested in, use code “BITS” at checkout.

Back with more soon. Stay tuned!
